When you first become an employer or employed your first employee, you must be registered with SOCSO not later than 30 days from the Act becomes applicable to you.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h5><strong>2 Types of\u00a0 Insurance Scheme from Social Security Organization<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><strong>First Category<\/strong><br \/>\nThe employment injury scheme which provides coverage for workplace accidents and the invalidity scheme which provides coverage to employees who suffer from invalidity or death due to any cause not related to their employment.<br \/>\nThis is for employees who are less than 60 years of age.<br \/>\nThe rate of contribution comprises:-<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1.75% of employer\u2019s share based on employee\u2019s monthly wages<\/li>\n<li>0.5% of employee\u2019s monthly wages<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Or you can just check the wages fall under which scope based on the schedule <a href=\"https:\/\/www.perkeso.gov.my\/index.php\/en\/social-security-protection\/employer-employee-eligibility\/rate-of-contributions\">sini<\/a> provided by SOCSO.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Second Category<\/strong><br \/>\nThe employment injury scheme which provides coverage for workplace accidents.<br \/>\nThe rate of contribution under this category is 1.25% of employees\u2019 monthly wages that it is paid entirely by employer only. You can check out the schedule <a href=\"https:\/\/www.perkeso.gov.my\/index.php\/en\/social-security-protection\/employer-employee-eligibility\/rate-of-contributions\">sini<\/a> provided by SOCSO.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h5><strong>Period to Contribute to Social Security Organization<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>By 15th of subsequent month, the employer must make contribution and payment to SOCSO.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h5><strong>Types of Wages That Subject to Social Security Organization<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Wages for the purpose of SOCSO represents all monetary remuneration which includes any payment in respect of leave, holidays, overtime and extra work on holidays.<br \/>\nNonetheless, there are certain remunerations which are not subject to SOCSO:-<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Any contribution made by employer to EPF<\/li>\n<li>Travelling allowance or value of travelling concession<\/li>\n<li>Special expenses incurred as a result of his employment<\/li>\n<li>Gratuity payable on discharge or retirement<\/li>\n<li>Annual bonus<\/li>\n<li>Any other remuneration as may be prescribed<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr \/>\n<h5><strong>Obligation of Employer to Social Security Organization<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>The employer must maintain and store an employee register manually or electronically.
